Located in Aragon, Spain, frontier to the Aspe Valley, Estaens lake is also a dam, hydroelectric plant, which is in France. Discover my 3 visits in this iconic location of the Aspe valley in the Aragon’s Pyrenees.
The 1st time, 5 years ago, in summer with friends, starting from Sansanet parking, coming back by Espelunguère, and its famous cascade.
The second time, 2 years later, after a night on the Gabedaille slopes, that we can see discovering above the clouds in the morning, we headed Spain, to discover the lake, crowdy in this month of August, then looking like an altitude beach.
The 3rd time, starting in Sansanet parking, appreciating the last beautiful colors of Autumn, later crossing the Spain border to go up to the peak of Cutchet de Garay, la “Mujer muerta”, 1832m, overlooking Estaens lake. Coming back direction north-est, across the bois d’Anglus to go through the Espélunguère loop, that leads back to the start.
